Tangshan LNG Terminal, Hebei, China
An important part of the China energy strategy and greatly improves the security of pipeline network gas supply in North East China region.
CNPC, China National Petroleum Corporation, one of the world’s largest Oil and Gas companies decided to build its third LNG terminal in Tangshan City of Hebei Province, not far away from Beijing, which was planned in two phases, Phase one has an annual receiving capacity of 3.5 million tons completed by end of 2014, including 3*160,000 cubic meter full containment LNG tanks. The feasibility study and relevant research works in forefront stage were carried out for years.
The Tangshan LNG facility also includes one jetty to accommodate 125,000-270,000 cubic meter LNG carrier. The construction started in March 2011. There will be one more 160,000 cubic meter LNG tank during Phase 2 and the design capacity will increase to 6.5 million ton per year. For future stage, the design capacity will be 10.0 million ton per year. The facility would send natural gas out to Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin through Yongtangqin gas pipeline with an aim to ease Beijing's tight gas supply. This project will also provide a new reliable gas supply for North China Area and will also supplement the seasonal peak demand.
This project is an important part of the national energy strategy and greatly improves the security of pipeline network gas supply in North East China region. It will bring environmental benefits and also assist in decreasing air pollutants emissions. Besides, this project will take full advantage of Cao Fei Dian deepwater port and promote local economic development.
