New Port of Pointe Noire, Congo (Brazzavile)
Dynamic mooring analysis and downtime analysis for vessels operating in open sea with wave over 1.5m, period around 3s to 17s.
The first phase of Pointe-Noire project is located approximately 8 km away to the north of exist port in Congo (Brazzavile). This project was proposed to build two 300,000-ton ore exporting berths, one 100,000-ton potash exporting berth, two 50,000-ton multi-functional berths, one breakwater in the south of the port. Besides, onshore field consisting of storage yard, warehouse, logistics spaces and production supporting zone was also developed. In order to meet the requirements of ship mooring and operation, HalcrowSea performed numerical analysis adopting Termsim II to evaluate mooring stability under typical condition (i.e. wind, wave and current condition) , and the reasonability of berth layout and design parameters had been verified. Based on the data collection of seabed topography, wind, wave, current etc., A SW model is developed using Mike 21. The modelling domain covering project area and offshore areas with OWI data position and other observing station. Continuous wave data (operational) from year 1992 to 2006 is simulated based on OWI hindcast data. Downtime for 150,000DWT, 200,000DWT and 300,000DWT bulk carrier operating at each berth is analysed. And finally actual monthly and yearly throughput are hindcasted from year 1992 to 2006 to exam the design parameter.
